Let's say for sake of argument that our view of God is 100% correct. Now, from this viewpoint there are two ways to view other viewpoints about God and faith:

(1) Other faiths worship different gods and these gods have different attributes. Assuming monotheism, they have to be, by definition, wrong. These people are serving a figment of their imagination.

(2) Other faiths have a deformed view of the one true God - they don't understand (or are aware!) of key concepts, but they are not completely wrong.

I find it difficult to to get my mind around other faiths in terms of these two viewpoints. For some faiths (the hypothetical South-American tribesman that worships a God he sees in nature and in his primitive, every-day life) it is easy to put them in category (2), but for a Muslim, I have to go with (1).

However, the point that I want to make is that if we can get to a point where we see all people as (2), we may look at them with completely different eyes. All of a sudden they are not evil incarnated, but people just like us. Maybe then, the terrible religious evils that are littered throughout history may come to an end for good.Jaco van Niekerkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05438999119366217740noreply@blogger.com
